What is SEDS ?

SEDS is the world's largest space enthusiasts' organisation for both school and university students. Anyone in India who is interested can become a member of SEDS-India. The organisation was founded in the US in 1980 by students at MIT and Princeton University and is continuing to grow, currently having more than 60 branches worldwide. SEDS-India was formed in 2004 Dec and is one of the fastest growing national SEDS groups.

 

What is the purpose of SEDS?

•To promote the exploration of space, and the research and development of space-related technologies.
•To provide a forum through which students can become involved in the international space community.
•To motivate students to excel in space-related fields.
•To share in the advancing knowledge and growing benefits to be reaped from space.
•To improve space-related education through both academic work and hands-on projects.

 

Where is its Headquaters?

The headquaters of SEDS India is located in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University, Vellore.

 

Who all can join SEDS?

Any peron who is a resident of India an has an interest in space exploration and research can join SEDS India either individually or by forming a group of 15 or more and start a chapter of SEDS India.
